A unique pilot project featuring Tarnoc’s Turbine Heat Pump is now running in the iconic 16th-century city castle, Het Duivelshuis, in Arnhem! This national monument, which also serves as the workplace of the Mayor of Arnhem, is being sustainably heated in an innovative way.
An Innovative Heating Solution for a Historic Building
Tarnoc’s Turbine Heat Pump is a fully electric heat pump that delivers high temperatures to the existing heating system. This makes it an ideal solution for historic buildings, where traditional heat pump technologies are often technically and financially unfeasible. Through this pilot, we gain valuable insights into how the Turbine Heat Pump can support the Municipality of Arnhem’s goal of achieving fully CO₂-neutral heating by 2050.
Why is this Project so Important?
The Municipality of Arnhem manages a wide range of buildings for sports, culture, utilities, and education. Many existing sustainable heating solutions cannot be directly applied to these buildings. The pilot with the Turbine Heat Pump offers a unique opportunity to test how this innovative technology can provide future-proof heating solutions for existing buildings without compromising their historical value.
